The word Sama means “there is no beginning, no end” which was the word used by Sheila Vance, the CEO and founder of Sama Eyewear to name her company. This word was selected to reflect the scope of Sheila’s experiences after the death of her son Sam Vance, who died of heroin overdose. As a result of her son’s death, Sheila focused her 15 years of experience in the eyewear industry on the development of Sama Eyewear, her newest business venture. Furthermore, Sheila resolved to establish the Sam Vance Foundation to help teenagers cope with drug addiction. With this, for every pair of eyeglasses sold at Sama eye wear, a portion of the proceeds would go to the Sam Vance Foundation to be used for drug rehabilitation and drug patient treatments.

One of the pioneer eyewear collections by Sama was the Visionnaires collection, where all profits from the sale of this collection were donated to the Friendly House via the Sam Vance Foundation. This collection comprised of eyewear styles that were based on those designed specifically for famous celebrities, who even till now greatly supports the efforts of Sheila Vance. Apart from being a business woman with a purpose, Sheila is renowned among celebrities, filmmakers and stylists as a custom and luxury eyewear designer and has been featured in many magazine editorials. She has also been prominent in setting eyewear design trends throughout the industry.

The Sama eyeglasses product line consists of seven distinctive designs, all of which are either made with titanium frames, rimless, metal framed or zyl. The 1001 nights model represents glamour and magic, and is produce with zyl and titanium frames as well as adorned with precious stones. The Balance model comes with many color choices within the zyl frame and is best suited for daytime wear. Clarity is made up of a lightweight titanium frame with a unifront construction design. For progressive lens wearers, Sama eyewear has the Classic models which comprise of larger sized titanium and zyl frames. The Petite model is small and light but strong and stunning, suitable for the female stylish eyeglass wearer. With power and glamour comes the Power model of sunglasses with frames made of zyl coupled with tinted sun lenses.
